"Breaking news! Contrary to popular myth and misconception, it has been reaffirmed that the U.S. Government is NOT - repeat, not - a bottomless pit of money. It has also been reaffirmed that every time in world history where the masses have become convinced their government IS a bottomless pit of money, that society experienced a complete financial collapse.
Bottom line; this country doesn't have a fiscal cliff problem, a debt ceiling problem or even a tax revenues problem (as popularly asserted). Rather it has a SPENDING problem. Fiscal cliffs, debt ceilings and the like are only symptoms of said spending problem. Unless this root cause spending problem is addressed, them this country will have one financial crisis after another as the runaway tax-andspend U.S. Government freight train continues to speed out of control.
"The American Republic will endure until its Congress discovers it can bribe the public with the public's money."
- Alexis de Tocqueville
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the Most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."
