Global warming was a joke until it was discovered there's money to be made in the Global Warming hysteria.

The first I remember hearing of “global warming” was during the 1988 presidential election. Then-candidate and future Vice President Al Gore laid out his case for global warming. As he did so, he proposed as a partial remedy doing away completely with all internal combustion engines as soon as possible. That made him a laughing stock and cost him the 1988 presidential nomination. He wasn’t heard of again until the 1992 elections wherein he became Vice President under Bill Clinton.

Global warming was viewed as apocalyptic, “crack pot” science and stayed a laughing stock until only recently. It wasn’t hard, credible science that gave it a new lease on life. Quite the contrary; such scientific evidence actually discredits the theory of global warming and shows it to be false. It’s only been since corporations figured out they could make millions selling people supposedly-environmentally-friendly products that saved the “global warming” theory from fading into oblivion like the flat earth theory.
